What is James Ryan Haywood’s net worth? Who is Ryan Haywood’s wife?
Introduction
Ryan Haywood is the millennial version of a triple threat.
The Georgia-born entertainer creates content as a gamer on Twitch, a YouTuber, and he does podcasts.
Haywood is probably most famous for his time at Rooster Teeth Productions as a co-star in Achievement Hunter, but he’s also been co-anchor on their entertainment news channel.
Whatever you think you know about the charismatic influencer, we promise you there’s way more.
The Origin Story
James Ryan Haywood was born on December 6, 1980, in Columbus, Georgia.
James may have been his first name, but his parents always called him Ryan—a name he was given in homage to his great-grandfather.
Born and raised in the great state of Georgia, Ryan did some modeling while in high school.
He also worked as a pool cleaner to get some extra cash.
Ryan met his high school girlfriend, Laurie Higginbotham, before heading off to Full Sail University in 1998. Full Sail—a private university in Florida—offers online and in-class degrees.
Ryan earned his in computer animation before moving on to Georgia Southern University.
In his six years at Georgia Southern, he studied theater, broadcasting, computer science, and computer engineering courses.
Wife
After he made his way home from Georgia Southern with his girlfriend Laurie—who had by this stage graduated as a qualified vet—the pair were married in 2007.
They welcomed their first child, a son named Eli, in 2011.
Eli was followed by baby sister Olivia in 2013.
Both of Ryan’s kids, and his veterinarian wife, have appeared on his Twitch streams.
Moving Up The Ranks
Not long before the birth of his son Eli in 2011, the family moved to Corpus Christi, Texas.
There was a job posted on Craigslist by Rooster Teeth.
Ryan applied, and was eventually hired part-time in June of that year.
He started out editing content for the Game Fails YouTube channel and acting as a remote project manager for its founders, Geoff Ramsey and Jack Pattillo.
Eventually, Geoff and Joel hired the young Ryan full-time, and the Haywood family moved to Austin.
Haywood was hired at Rooster Teeth as an animation and VFX editor and technical director.
The web series he worked on, Red vs. Blue, was a military sci-fi series, but the combat portion of the program was light on the ground.
Ryan introduced fight sequences and took his cue from online fan videos, growing the series through to its 10th season.
Some of his milestones at Rooster Teeth included:
- A video game tour of NYC (2011)
- The Witcher 2: Librarian Achievement Guide (2011)
- The Gauntlet
- But…
- Million Dollars
- Ten and Eleven Little Roosters
He also provided voice acting for multiple Rooster Teeth animated characters, including The Mad King.
Gaming
While he was hard at work growing his portfolio of achievements at Rooster Teeth, Haywood was still an avid gamer in his downtime.
He joined Twitch in 2016 and began live-streaming under the name SortaMaliciousGaming.
The channel was incredibly popular, with Ryan streaming Minecraft, Super Mario World, GTA, and Fallout 3 gameplay.
But the outgoing online personality, who was an official Twitch Partner with more than 2 million stream views in 2020, would have his channel permanently banned in 2021.

Fallout of a Different Kind
Rooster Teeth took to the internet on October 7, 2020, to announce that they had parted ways with Haywood and Adam Kovic over a breach of the company’s Code of Conduct.
Haywood’s release followed numerous unverified sexual misconduct allegations and triggered a delay in the Red vs. Blue: Zero debut.
The delay was put down to the company’s desire to re-record Ryan’s dialogue in the series using another employee. Jack Pattillo, a long-time friend and employer of Haywood’s, said the company wanted to “wipe the slate clean.”
The breach of conduct stemmed from photos that appeared on a bodybuilding forum and on ill-reputed forum 4chan in October 2020. The explicit images were reportedly sent to a 17-year old fan named Tessa Graves.
Graves posted a video on YouTube to defend Haywood, saying she had told him she was 18 when they first met.
This meeting took place at PAX 2017. After that, she accidentally sent him a photo intended for someone else, and the pair stayed in touch.
Two years later, the pair were exchanging elicit photos of themselves and made plans to meet up after the next PAX event. The meet-up never happened.
However, since that time, online amateur sleuths have put together a list of women who claim to have had a consensual affair with the married father of two. Responding to the allegations against him in online media, he tweeted:
“I’m sorry to anyone I’ve hurt. I do want to say emphatically that I never did anything illegal.”
In the aftermath of the drama, Haywood made a return to Twitch.
Shortly thereafter, the Amazon-owned streaming site banned his account permanently.
Where did he disappear?
Not much is known about Haywood since the Twitch ban. It is believed that he moved away from Austin (where Rooster Teeth is based) shortly after leaving the company but beyond that, not much else is known about what happened or where he currently resides today.
